Thrust into a sinister plot engineered by Guildenstern, Samanosuke is thrust nearly 400 years into the future (2004) and forced to fight the demons in modern day France, while a French Special Forces officer is transported back to Samanosuke's timeline in feudal Japan. Luckily, the "Ogre Power" contained within Samanosuke's gauntlet has helped prolong his life. With a returning threat on the horizon, Samonosuke returns to battle his longtime foe, Nobunaga Oda, nearly 50+ years after they first clashed. Having vanquished the evil forces, Jubei Yagyu lives out his days and eventually retires. Onimusha 3: Demon Siege (PS2) - The 3rd and final entry into the "Nobunaga Oda" trilogy. Only the warrior "Jubei Yagyu" and his comrades can take on Nobunaga's chief scientist "Guildenstern" and bring order back to the land. This time around, Samonosuke is gone and believed dead. Several years after the events of "Onimusha Warlords", Nobunaga is still wreaking havoc in feudal Japan. Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny (PS2) - The 2nd title in the "Nobunaga Oda" trilogy. Here, the "Nobunaga Oda" trilogy of games begins with the main character "Samonusuke Akechi" being exposed for the first time to the "Ogre Power", which grants Samonusuke the power to transform into an "Oni" so he can battle the dark legions of undead soldiers that have been amassed by Oda's lieutenants. Anyway, here are my recommendations on where you should start and why: Onimusha: Warlords(PS2) / Genma Onimusha (XBox) - The game that started it all.
The Onimusha game series is an excellent series in general, especially if you like isometric/3rd person action games with lots of swordplay. Does the Onimusha have any order to follow, and which one would be the best to start with?
